This is the third year that the Standard Chartered Jersey Marathon has been held. Not only is it a great race but also contributes to the economy and to charitable causes.
The event is organised by the Jersey Marathon Management Committee with representatives from Jersey Tourism, States Sports Department, Standard Chartered Bank, Headway Jersey, Mourant, and the running community.
The funds are controlled by the Jersey Marathon Trust who are responsible for the distribution of monies to good causes.
The aims of the Standard Chartered Jersey Marathon are to:
- Raise money for good causes on the Island and beyond. In 2008 this will be Headway Jersey and Seeing is Believing.
- Give Jersey based runners an opportunity to compete in a marathon without having to leave the island.
- Have fun and celebrate the unique character of the beautiful island of Jersey.
- Create a sporting event that attracts visitors to the Island.
