Further to the Government of Jersey’s update on Friday (7 August) in regard to mass gatherings, we would like to share an update regarding the 15th Standard Chartered Jersey Marathon, that was due to take place on Sunday 4 October 2020.

We had hoped there was a possibility of further relaxation of restrictions for mass participation sporting events and that we would be able to hold the event and comply with the COVID-19 guidelines. However, given the current restrictions, the limit for more controlled events remains at 40 people.

The safety and welfare of our participants is our primary concern, and we are fully supportive of the Government of Jersey guidelines that have been put in place to keep our islanders safe. Unfortunately, this does mean that, with great sadness, the organisers of the Standard Chartered Jersey Marathon, including the Ravenscroft Relay Race and Jersey Development Company Marathon Mile, have decided to cancel the 2020 Marathon.   This decision has not been taken lightly and we recognise this is hugely disappointing for those of you who have been training for the event.

All registrations will be automatically transferred to the 2021 event. Runners will receive further details in the coming weeks.

We are however working hard behind the scenes on exploring alternative options for our runners in October, to ensure they can still get out and run their chosen distance, and continue to support local charities, who have been adversely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our partners who have continued to support us in these difficult times.

Our community’s safety is most important and although we know many of you will be disappointed, we hope to see you all in 2021.
