EVENT UPDATE ON COVID-19

STATEMENT FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

THURSDAY 11 JUNE 2020

As Jersey continues to move through the phased easing of lockdown, this Friday 12 June will see the Island move from phase 3 to phase 2. Therefore we would like to provide the latest on the Standard Chartered Jersey Marathon, which is due to take place on Sunday 4 October 2020.

Whilst it is positive news that we continue to move through the gradual relaxation of lockdown, we are mindful that there still exists some uncertainty as to when, and with what safety precautions, mass participation sporting events will be permitted to return.

We do however continue to plan ahead with our event, albeit with multiple event scenarios on the table, which we hope will allow us to adapt and comply with whatever travel and physical distancing restrictions may still be in place in October.

We are expecting more updates from Jersey Sport, the Public Health Department of Jersey, UK Athletics and Government of Jersey with regards to safe operational guidelines for mass participation running events and travel to the Island. As we continue to move through the phased easing of lockdown, we will provide a further news on the state-of-play towards the middle of July.

Until this point, we urge all our runners to remain focused on the goal and keep training, enjoy your running, while respecting the physical/social distancing guidelines that remain in place of course!

Best Wishes

Standard Chartered Jersey Marathon Team
